At 6 Months My Akita Female Is 37 Pounds. How Much Bigger Is She Likely to Get?

I know she’s small for an akita which is fine. Just need to know what to expect.

She’s just a late bloomer. My guy was too, he didn’t stop filling out until he was almost 3 and he barely made it to 93#. Many experts agree it’s best to avoid foods that promote extra growth for any large dog during their early years while bones are growing, so I wouldn’t worry a bit about yours.

For the American Akita: mature males height tops out at 26-28 inches (66-71 cm) and weigh 100-130 pounds (45-59 kg). Mature females can grow to 24-26 inches (61-66 cm) with weight between 70-100 pounds (32-45 kg).

Akitas are large dogs. They typically weigh anywhere from 65-120 pounds. Since yours is small for an akita, she will likely weigh anywhere from 50-65 pounds when full grown.
