I Am Trying to Find Out the Main Differences Between an Akita Dog and an Akita Female Dog?

I cannot get information on the different temprements between the male and female Akita’s. I know about the size difference but I really won’t to know how the female and male differ personality wise. How well do the female’s guard the home etc. What other differences are you aware of. If you have a different breed of dog let me know the difference between the male and female’s please.
I already own a Male Akita.

Hi Akita Owner,
I am a former breeder of Akitas and have found that the females do make watch dogs just the same as males. The only thing is the females will get along with each other if raised as a family, in the house. Males will attack other males, unless they have "Exellent Temperament" and unless they are very well trained in Obedience, and Socialized in classes with other dogs. This has to be a continued process with an Akita Dog, otherwise, there will be no turning back! The females are a bit more mellow and more willing to accept another dog that comes into her territory. They all seem to hate small animals, esp. cats, unless raised with them from the time they are a little puppy. Then they can distinquish between their cat and the neighbors cat. Both male and female Akitas have a killing instinct to any strange small animals. So, all in all, a female is easier to own. The males are beautiful and have a striking beautiful appearance, but there is no end to the socializing and obedience training for them, especially the large agressive males. If not, they will end up in a chain link fence area, by themselves in someones backyard, as an ornament.
Good Luck with your dog and training.

Well, generally females are calmer and easier to train, but Akitas are very protective dogs. Boy akitas are generally larger, and they are more territorial, but not neccesarily more protective. It just means that it will mark your garden / land.
Generally, Akitas are very protective dogs and gender will not change loyalty!

    Good Luck
Just so u know that a boy dog and a girl dog get on better thatn 2 boys or 2 girls, but make usre that you neuter him and spay her to prevent unwanted pregnancies and keep them happy and healthy.

Males tend to be aggresive, as you probably know, Akitas are can be very aggresive anyways. BUT in most breeds of dogs, if the female is not spayed, she is slightly more aggresive. As far as guarding the home, it doesn’t matter which gender.
Plus if most people saw a dog that big, I think they would think twice about coming in,lol

Female dogs are less hyper but male dogs are better at guarding the home. The male might want to be a dad unless you neuter it! Good luck hope i helped!!

I have 2 female Akitas. Not very protective. My older one has a great bark that sometimes scare people. People can enter my house and they only kiss people. Neither are very good at protecting, but are very loving. Never had a male.
