Akita Training

training banner2 Akita TrainingThere is no easy way to say it; the Akita dog is extremely challenging to train.  It could be even said that the Akita is one of the most challenging dog breeds walking the planet to train.  It’s because it’s natural instinct is to be intelligent and fearless.  They are so intelligent as a matter fact, that’s very common for the Akita to think that they know more than even their human masters.  This is something that has to be corrected in Akita training. The lack of submission can’t be tolerated in this dog if you have any hopes of keeping this dog is part of your family and having a good relationship with it.

Another challenge concerning Akita training, is that it has to be trained how to behave around strangers.  The Akita is a very large and powerful muscular dog.  On top of this,  it doesn’t like strangers.  Therefore, some people either have to train this dog to get into a somewhat submissive stance when strangers come around, or they’ll have to flat out remove the dog from the room.  However, once the Akita realizes that it’s part of the human family pack, it will move hell and high water to protect the family.

Akitas don’t like other pets and they don’t like brand-new babies.  This is because the Akita is superior and protective of their territory.  Once the dog has completed Akita training, and they realize who are the members of the human family, they have to get used to new member of the human family all over again.  The bottom line is if a family is still in the midst of adding to the family, or if  there is a baby on the way soon, they need to seriously think about the presence of an Akita dog.  If this dog gets the right training, it might stand a chance of being able to be around small children or new babies.  Otherwise, the human owner might have to decide between investing in some very personalized Akita training, or getting rid of this dog altogether.  Concerning Akita training, the human owner also has to realize that the training doesn’t stop from the time that it’s a puppy.  Training is an ongoing, ever going process with this dog.

The right owner for the Akita is someone who has a firm hand, yet that isn’t cruel.  This is under no circumstances is the type of dog for someone who wants a low maintenance dog, or for someone that has a timid personality themselves.  Otherwise, this dog might turn on their human owners and this would be a tragedy.

At the end of the day, if someone is enamored with the Akita and simply must own an Akita, they need to be prepared in spending as much money as possible, and buying books and getting the Akita training for this dog.  Not only does the dog needs raining, but humans need extra special training in dealing with this very unique dog.
